Seller Dos and Don'ts

If you've decided to sell your house, you'll need to make a good impression to potential buyers. You want your home to appear as though the new owner could take possession and move in with as little effort as possible. (We in the know call this "move-in condition.")

This list of DOs and DON'Ts will properly prepare your property for it's best possible sale.

• DO clean around the front door. (First impressions matter!)
• DO clean out the garage. (You're not selling your old tools and boxes with the house.)
• DO clean out the closets. (Closets are not hiding places.)
• DO clean the entire house as though company were coming over. (It is.)
• DON'T wait until the last moment before cleaning.
• DO fix all the broken items. (Who wants to buy a broken item?)
• DON'T wallpaper.
• DO paint where needed.
• DO recarpet. (DON'T wait for a buyer to do this; you want the house presentable.)
• DO work on the landscaping. (Can you see the house?)
